Best ways to Deal with Mosquitos

Coming to the Caribbean means pristine beaches, amazing cenotes, and wonderful food. Of course, the Caribbean also has mosquitos that love to come out in the early morning and evenings. Here are our recommendations of the best way to deal with mosquitos.

Coming to the Caribbean means pristine beaches, amazing cenotes, and wonderful food. Of course, the Caribbean also has mosquitos that love to come out in the early morning and evenings. Here are our recommendations of the best way to deal with mosquitos.

First, make sure you keep the mosquito net closed, even during the day. This is the best way to make sure none of them get trapped and bother you at night. We love repellents that contain Citronella (a natural repellant)  but OFF! is also a great option to put on before heading out to dinner. Most pharmacies here in Tulum carry repellents that you can buy when you arrive.

For babies, wearing PJs with long sleeve/pants can help keep them protected at night. We always make sure to keep the fan going because it makes it harder for the mosquitos to fly and gives us a good night’s sleep!

Best Places to get Ice Cream in Tulum

Best Places to get Ice Cream in Tulum

One of our favorite ways to beat the Caribbean heat is to go for ice cream. Here are our recommendations for the best places to get ice cream in Tulum! If you’re staying at the beach, Origami, located next to Ahau, is a definite must. They have all the classic flavors that the kids will enjoy but always have new combinations, and they capitalize on the delicious fresh fruit we have here.

If you are staying in town, make sure to go to Campanella Cremerie located right on Tulum Ave. They have amazing gelato and waffles. You can get them separately but they are so much better together. Make sure you try their Speculoos (cookie butter) flavor!

Let us know what your favorite flavor was!

A Day at Coba with the Family

The Coba ruins are a fantastic site and one of our favorite recommendations for a fun day outing with the family. The Coba ruins are home to one to one of the only pyramids in the world that you are still allowed to climb!

The Coba ruins are a fantastic site and one of our favorite recommendations for a fun day outing with the family. The Coba ruins are home to one to one of the only pyramids in the world that you are still allowed to climb! The property itself is huge and we recommend renting bicycles to make your day in the jungle surrounding the ruins much more enjoyable. You can get bikes for around $3 for the day or you can hire someone to bike you around on a bike taxi for $5-$10 depending on how long you want to stay at Coba.  We recommend packing snacks and plenty of water!

Let us know if you have any other questions about this awesome site!
